Trial period for an automatic queuing-measurement at Stuttgart Airport
Within a two-month trial period Stuttgart Airport has successfully tested technical solutions for an automatic check-in queuing-measurement and steering in corporation with different partners.
Apart from examining the technical practicability, it has been particularly analysed to what extent a real-time queuing-measurement (quality) can offer an improved basis for decision making of the dispatcher as well as an optimised resource planning in the future. In connection with this, a major advantage is the automatic measurement which allows a measurement over a long period of time as well as creating a reliable database for decision making. A further analysis was regarding the question to what extent handling processes could be accelerated by steering passenger flows via screens to improve the use of the provided capacity.
This trial period is part of the project “Total Airport Management Suite” (TAMS) funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi).
